REFERRAL TO TREATMENT
PROJECT INTRODUCTION
Referral To Treatment is the measurement of patient activity from when a patient is referred till their treatment period. The dashboard is actually a redevelopment to support ongoing Azure migration projects within the company for streamlined data processes and analysis.
This reports on performance rates across hospitals through the measurement of patient wait times across the following main categories: <52 weeks and 52+ weeks, whilst monitoring and tracking both open and closed pathway activities.
THE SOLUTION
As a result, data was collected from known various sources to develop a star-schema containing a fact table for reporting and numerous dimensional tables that included extensive details for data within the fact table in Azure, meaning datasets can easily be maintained, fact-checked and accessible to the appropriate user, I used the datasets to redevelop the initial dashboard.
A major feature recognised with the previous dashboard was the functionality and interactivity, therefore to emulate this within the new/latest dashboard project, I made use of ‘Use Relationship’ and ‘Switch’ statements in DAX to encourage interactivity and dynamic behaviour of visuals.
THE PROJECT PROBLEM
The data for this project was initially recorded within a traditional server and as this contained thousands of patient records, data was extracted from multiple sources - this was evident in the major issues faced in the initial dashboard developed. It became complex for developers to attain a ‘single point of truth’ and reporting seemed inconsistent with the expectations of end users’ as a result of database quality.
